2011 WORLD CUP – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST from PLAYERS:
The Board is still calling for expressions of interest from players that may wish to “identify” themselves if they are available for selection for the 2011 World Cup team, including tours and games prior to 2011 in the lead up to this event.
The Board have reviewed the time frame that players may need to be away and it may be only be up to four weeks, but it will still be a huge commitment involving time off work, cost involved and time away from family.
Anyone that is interested needs to e-mail the Board secretary saunders-loder@actrix.co.nz as soon as possible.
NZ POLOCROSSE BOARD:
Due to family and business commitments Robin Cave has stood down as President and Chairperson of New Zealand Polocrosse. Robin has held these offices for 8 terms – a remarkable feat for which the Board sincerely thanks him.
Alastair Cumming has been elected to the position of President and Chairperson for the remainder of this term.
Ken Malcolm and Glenda Hughes have been re-appointed for a further year as Board appointed members of the Board to be available and offer advice as, and when, needed.
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING:
Associations have been advised of a SGM that has been called for, to be held on Saturday the 23rd January 2010, in Franklin, for the purpose of consideration of the Name Change, Constitution and By-Laws.

JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIPS:
The Board has been advised that Kristen Hunt and Sara Melbourne are the two New South Wales
Junior Scholarships and April Lamb is the Queensland Scholarship recipient. These girls will be
arriving in New Zealand in early February and we look forward to hosting them.
The New Zealand Polocrosse Board would like to call for expressions of interest from New Zealand
Junior players for the 3 scholarships that are available to travel to Australia – 2 to New South Wales
and 1 to Queensland.
Expressions of interest should be received by the Board Secretary no later than 5.00pm on
Sunday 14th February 2010 and should include a CV with the following information
- nomination from home Association along with signed approval for nomination from parent or guardian
- proof of age,
- present playing ability,
- reference as to character and endeavor could be asked for from the school that is being attended at present or past.
- The length of time that the nominated person has been involved in polocrosse, their aims towards Polocrosse in the future and their ability to mix with people and be away from family / whanau may be taken into account.
BARASTOC COMPETITION:
The New Zealand Polocrosse Board has received an invitation from the Warwick Polocrosse Club to
take part in the men’s competition at their Barastoc Interstate Polocrosse Series at Warwick to be
held on 9/10/11th April 2010.
The Barastoc Series is an invitation series which has been running at Warwick now for approx 3 years
- originally it was between New South Wales and Queensland but over the last two years it has
included Victoria and Western Australia. The competition is held over 3 days and 2 nights.
AFFILIATIONS & CLUB LEVIES:
A reminder that these are now overdue. Where possible please fill in the affiliation form
electronically and return by e-mail to saunders-loder@actrix.co.nz as well as sending the hard copy
with your cheque. Thank you to the Clubs that have already paid these – it is much appreciated.
CARNIVAL LEVIES:
Carnival levies remain at $10.00 per player, payable 7 days after the carnival. Clubs are to forward a
list of players names with the payment.
