Page updated 08/22/2008 2:52 PM

QUADRANGULAR TOUR – Expression of Interest in Coach Position:
The date for the Quadrangular tour to Australia has been confirmed as the 16th to 19th April 2009.  This tour will see Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and South Africa competing together.
The Board is calling for expressions of interest  for the Coach for this tour. Expressions of interest, including a CV or other relevant information, need to be in to the New Zealand Polocrosse Board Secretary, PO Box 228, WANGANUI – Postcode 4540 by the 10th August 2008.
No application will necessarily be accepted.

NATIONAL FIXTURES and CARNIVAL DATES:
The Board has set the following dates for National Fixtures and would like to call for expressions of interest by any Club / Associations wishing to host these events.

            Juniors and Intermediates – 17th & 18th January 2009
            Nationals – 4th & 5th April 2009

Clubs should be looking at setting carnival dates for the coming season. With new Clubs wishing to host carnival, and a full season of events ahead, it may be a good time to look at starting the playing season earlier with carnivals starting at the beginning of December, or even earlier.
Preferred dates for Carnivals and expressions of interest in hosting the National fixtures should be forwarded to the Board Secretary by the 1st September 2008.

AGM:
The 2008 New Zealand Polocrosse Council Incorporated Annual General Meeting has been set for Saturday 27th September 2008 and will be held at the Cloverlea Tavern, corner of Tremaine Ave and Gillespie Line, Palmerston North
A conference will follow the AGM.
If any Clubs or Associations wish to submit remits or have matters that they would like to see discussed at the conference, now is the time to start thinking about these and getting then in to the Board Secretary.
More information will be sent to all Club and Association secretaries closer to the date.

INCORPORATED SOCIETIES:
Clubs can check for up-dated information on the Societies & Trusts web site – www.societies.govt.nz or on the New Zealand Companies Office web site (under “Search other registers”) – www.companies.govt.nz . Both these site have lots of information regarding the setting up and running of an Incorporated Society, including forms that are required and information on filing returns etc.

GILBERT COOPER – COOPER FAMILY TROPHY:
Early July saw the passing of Gilbert Cooper. Gilbert’s funeral was held on the 9th July in Te Awamutu, with several Board members and other polocrosse members attending.
Gilbert and his wife Georgina Cooper donated the Rockwood Trophy and the Cooper Family Trophy to polocrosse. The Cooper Family Trophy was originally donated as a challenge trophy for competition between the King Country Polocrosse Association and Queensland, Australia, but later it was decided that the basis for competition should be between Queensland and New Zealand, to allow more opportunity for competition.
The touring Queensland team were the inaugural winners of the trophy in 1989, with a New Zealand Intermediate team winning it in 1997; Queensland won the trophy back in 2001, in Australia which resulted in Queensland touring to New Zealand in 2004 where the trophy was contested for at the Horse of the Year Show – with New Zealand the winners.
The current state of competition is two wins each for the respective teams, which should make for close games at the coming competition on July 19th & 20th with a development squad travelling from New Zealand to Queensland – with Tony Schrafft as Coach and Julinda Marshall as Manager. The team consists of Stephen Watson, Dwayne McKay, Daryel Mouat, James Marshall, Savannah Larsen-Church, Laura Dempster and Nicky Schrafft. Good luck!
